Taming Electricity Bills

How to Save on Electricity

Electric bills can make or break a family’s budget.

The best way to tame it down though is to continue observing conservation measures that will hopefully lower electric bills.

The Penny Hoarder shared some useful tips.

“Unplug chargers from the wall when you’re not using them and from fully charged phones. Leaving a charger in the wall while you’re at work for nine hours costs you 10 cents a day. In the average household with 25 devices, including Kindles, iPads, rechargeable flashlights, cell phones, laptops and MP3 players, that’s $2.50 a day or $935 a year (plus tax, in most states) for energy you don’t need.”

Conserve until you can

Fernvidz shared a video on conserving electricity to save on utility expenses.

“In this video, you will learn some of the things you should do to lower your electric bill, including the habit of turning things on before leaving the room, checking for leaks and holes in the house and many more. In this way, you will not only save money but you can also help mother nature.”

Mental Floss for its part featured a furniture that can help lower electricity costs.

“The design duo estimates that the Climatic Table can save offices up to 60 percent in heating costs and 30 percent in cooling costs. They plan to start selling it later this year. Previously, Ménard and Lagrange had released an eco-friendly charging station that powers your gadgets via solar panels.”
